Lately, my friends have been picking up some great bags. And well, with their permission, I thought I should share.
The Friend: SC
Length of Friendship: 17 years
Her Style: Snappy and Fresh on a Budget
Handbag Love: Fun, Functional & Unique
This friend was the first to introduce me to Kate Spade. We were in Houston trying not to keep up with the big hair and gel nails. It was over 10 years ago, and I always think of her when I see Kate Spade bags.

She just got this bag on her recent family trip to Vegas. Gotta love the Vegas outlets. Isn't is delicious? The color cries out for summer and it would look fabulous dressed down with jeans or juicy with an all white ensemble. Well chosen my friend, well chosen. In your honor, I am also updating the MUST HAVE section to Kate Spade.
Here's to another 17 years of more good memories and possibly a few more handbags.

LA Vintage Disappoints
I was so excited to receive my Jackie O vintage pocketbook! (See pictures below.) I received an email confirmation that FEDEX delivered so I rushed down to see my new treasure. First, I pull out the double strap black version. Dusty, but in pretty good shape. Then the navy bag....and that was it. No Jackie O in the box. I looked at the receipt and the item was circled in pen and refund was written. WHAT?? No one told me that I wasn't going to receive my bag. How can they not notify me?
I bet the packer's thought it was such a fine find they kept it for themselves. I'm very disappointed. So sad in fact, that the other 2 bags aren't appealing to me now at all. I was willing to overlook the fact that they were both covered in dust from 1960, but no Jackie O and no notification? Can not forgive.
Bad LA Vintage. I think we should break up.

Gone Vintage
Last week I watched The September Issue documentary. Vogue's photography and styling is so beautiful. I purchased 2009's September issue for my baby girl when she was born. I thought it would be a good time capture for her to look back on. (I also bought an Instyle for a more realistic and affordable view of fashion!) I love beautifully made clothes. They are works of art in their own right. As I flipped through Vogue's pages, it got me thinking about my desire to own an early 60's "pocketbook". In my mind, it would be black with a top clasp, a short handle and I could see Betty Draper from Mad Men holding it while taking a long drag on her cigarette. The bags from the 50's and 60's have form and sleekness that is refreshing from today's onslaught of size, buckles, straps, tassels and zippers.
I decided I needed to own one. Needed? Okay, maybe wanted is a better word. I found this from LA Vintage. They called it The Jackie O. Isn't this beautiful in it's simplicity?

It was only $21. LA Vintage provides at least 5 views of the bag, plus they provide the dimensions and score the bag's condition.
They made it so easy to decide, I bought two more.

The dangers of Google! Nothing you desire is ever really that far away...

Cross Body Luxury
This is a must bag. The edgy metallic details gives the bag a unique style. I wasn't too sure about the tassels, but I've come to accept them. I will never be a tassel, bohemian style girl. I'm too tall. Yes, that's the reason.
The cross-body bags are huge this spring. I like the fact that the large, heavy bags are getting a break. Instead of seeing a bag walking towards me, now I actually see the person. For our back's sake, I hope this trend sticks around.

Foley + Corinna Wrapped Chain Leather and Mesh Crossbody Bag
I'm heading to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks and this bag will be my go-to evening bag. My Ted Baker turned diaper bag below will get a rest in the evenings. I'll give more details on the wonders of this bag on another day, but it really is spectacular.
